The people behind the passion:
Shoutout to Cultivation and Breeding Director Spencer Kendall, and Jasmine Lubrano, East Fork’s Farm Director!
When it all began:
East Fork was founded in 2015 after years of growing as caregivers under the medical program.
Grow Medium:
Grow Practices:
• 100% sungrown in native soil with minimal off-site inputs
• They use Korean Natural Farming (KNF) program elements to make fermented nutrients and pest treatments.
• Hand-planted and hand-harvested with care by a fairly paid team.
• Each year’s stalks are turned into biochar in an on-site kiln. The biochar is added to the soil to create great habitat for microorganisms and to retain moisture to reduce watering needs.
• Electric maintenance vehicles (golf carts) are used to minimize fuel use and on-site emissions/pollution.
• They are a Sun+Earth Certified cannabis farm, and a Sun+Earth and USDA Organic Certified hemp farm.
Standards for Curing:
East Fork cures to carefully honed craft cannabis standards to balance moisture content and retain and develop aromatics and color. They store all dried flower in a climate-controlled vault free of light, heat, and oxygen to maintain quality yearround.
Pest Control Method:
They only use house-made ferments and OMRI Certified (required for USDA Organic agriculture) pest applications.
They test their full genetic library extensively for hops latent viroid, and have an integrated pest management (IPM) system focused on plant health and early detection.
